Fanhams Hall Wedding | Laura & Ben
Fanhams Hall is an 18th Century Jacobean manor house set in the Hertfordshire countryside, just north of London. This was my first time at Fanhams Hall and was overwhelmed by the beautiful gardens. Each time I visit a new venue, I always arrive earlier than my start time so I can wander around and get a feel for the venue, scouting out the rooms and getting a feel for the light on the day.
I met Laura and her bridesmaids in one of the bridal suite rooms. There was lots of window light, and the makeup artist had set up in the perfect place for lighting, so capturing perfect preparation photos wasn’t hard. I have a natural and relaxed approach, and try to intervene as little as possible, blending into the background and capturing the day as it happens. Once ready, I captured some lovely photos of Lauras mum doing Laura’s dress up before spending a few minutes with the bride for some portraits by the window light. Laura looked stunning as did her bridesmaids.
Fanhams Hall Black Tie Wedding
They held their ceremony at St Cuthburts church, Hoddesdon. I met Ben with his best man at the end of the aisle, understandably looking a little nervous. Ben had opted for a tuxedo, complete with black tie and looked great. The ceremony went well, family friends sang songs and played their guitar during the ceremony which was a nice touch. As the ceremony finished, I lined up the guests on either side of the path, and everyone celebrated by throwing confetti. I always enjoy confetti tunnels, and the photos are some of my favourites from the day.
Everyone made their way back to Fanhams Hall for canapes and drinks. The stone walls on the terrace overlooking the gardens made for a nice frame for the family groups. I got a helpful bridesmaid to help gather people for the family photos to make sure the bride and groom weren’t standing waiting for everyone. As the guests were called through to The Great Hall, I took the couple for a short portrait session. The Great Hall was styled with string lights and lush floral centrepieces. As the speeches finished, the sun was getting low in the sky. Laura & Ben were keen to make the most of the venue, so we ventured out on a golf buggy to the Japanese tea house and woodland.
Overall, it was lovely to be a part of Laura & Ben’s day, and can’t wait to visit Fanhams hall soon. If you’re looking for a Fanhams Hall wedding photographer, view my portfolio and get in touch.
