Weald & Downland Wedding | Aliya & Jack

If you are looking for a unique and rustic wedding venue in West Sussex, you might want to check out the Weald & Downland Living Museum. This museum is home to over 50 historic buildings set in a beautiful park, offering an enchanting backdrop for your big day.

That’s exactly what Aliya & Jack chose for their August wedding, which was full of homemade touches. They held their ceremony in Crawley Hall, a 15th-century timber-framed hall that can host up to 50 guests. The hall has a cosy and intimate atmosphere, with wooden beams and a fireplace.

Aliya looked stunning in her dress with a floral hairpiece, while Jack wore a grey suit with a blue tie. They exchanged their vows under decorative drapes and eucalyptus arch. The bridesmaids wore grey dresses, while the groomsmen wore their armed forces uniforms.

After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed the sunshine on the lawn outside, whilst we photographed the family formals. The sun was very bright, so I found some shade cast by a tree for even lighting. Whilst the guests made their way to the reception, we made the most of the Weald & Downland by spending 20 minutes for a couple session. The old houses and architecture made for unique photos.

DIY Wedding Decorations

The reception was held at Singleton Cricket Club, which was just a short drive away from the museum. The couple had decorated the barn themselves and put their own touch on the styling.

The wedding breakfast was catered by Aliya’s dad who prepared everything and Jack’s Dad who was cooking everything, they made delicious grilled steaks and salads for everyone. Their gluten free chocolate cake was made by Jack’s mum, and went down well with the guests.

The couple had organised a tug of war which was a lot of fun, both of them got stuck in, and I aliya’s team won. These are some of my favourite photos from the day.

As golden hour approached, I suggested that we celebrated by popping a bottle of champagne in the sunshine, which made for fun photos. I then took the couple for a short sunset session before the evening party kicked off.

Rustic Styled Wedding

Aliya & Jack had an amazing day full of love and laughter at their Weald & Downland wedding. They said they couldn’t have wished for anything more than celebrating with their family and friends.
